Astronomy and Biology

This is a remarkable picture. Depending on your personal preferences, you may be attracted to the sky in the background or the beautiful blue color along the shoreline of the lake. Are you an astronomer or a biologist, or both?

Phil took the picture and he explains it at: Gippsland Lakes.

What are you when you just think it's a pretty picture?

An aesthete. I think it's all three (great astronomy, biology and teh pretty)

I just immediately notice the bright/dark contrast, not one or the other side of it. However, if I had to choose, I'm more drawn to the stars, but I'm a biologist. If you showed me a picture taken from the ground, of a frog, with the stars in the background, I would probably be more drawn to the frog.

I think "Oooh, Noctiluca!...?" and the proceed to make sure it wasn't some other bioluminescent alga. For now, I can claim to be able to identify microorganisms from a macrophotograph =P

(hey, it's not often I get to show off my rather arcane specialisation, lemme have my moment!)
